154 Tiller Driveshaft help!

Postby ClackamasCub » Wed Apr 29, 2009 11:22 am

Hi all-

I have a 154 with the g-5 15 IH tiller. Problem is the guy I bought it from lost the tractor end half of the driveshaft. (that hooks to the PTO shaft).

I am looking for any help I can get.
-Does anybody perhaps have one in their scrap pile? Parts of one?
-Does anybody have a working one they can give a measurement or two from to have one fabricated?

I have the parts diagram and none of the parts are available through Case/IH.

I'm open to any ideas...
Thanks!

You're going to have a heck of a time finding one of those. The tiller was the only PTO driven attachment that was available for a lo-boy (besides a mower deck but those use pulleys instead of a pto shaft), and those alone are pretty rare. If it were me, I'd purchase one of these

Then you can use a standard PTO coupler that is available almost anywhere. You'll likely have to get a piece of the correct size bar stock to make up the slide portion of the PTO shaft, but that should not be too tough to do.

Good luck,

I just bought some PTO parts including the part that fits the PTO shaft from Woods. I needed to repair the drive shaft for my rear mount PTO driven mower. That might be a source for you.

Thanks for the replies. I figured this might be a bit tough. If my driveshaft guy cannot find a coupler, your adapter should make it much easier.
