154 front tire diameter

Postby Landreo » Mon Mar 30, 2009 9:11 am

I have a 154 that I bought a few years ago with what looks to be some sort of JD front tires. The problem is that the front of the tractor is slightly higher than the back and I am not able to lower the front of the mower below the back of the mower so it will cut easier. Can someone measure the diameter of the front tires on their 154 so I can determine if the tire diameter is truely the problem?
Thanks.

If your running the 13.6x16 turf tires on the rear you should have the 10" rims on the front.

If your running the 8,3x24 rear tires you should have the 400-12" tires on the front. If your running a larger diameter tire on the front this will and can cause your tip in the machine.

The 13.6x16 tires are lower in height from the 8,3x24 tires too so if you are running the 400-12 tires with the 13.6x16 on the rear you should notice a little height difference in the front too.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

Thanks. I have the large turf tires with 10" rims in front but the actual tire diameter can vary even with the same size rims. I am trying to find the actual tire diameter. The front tires on my 154 actually rub the steering spindles if it were not for a few washers placed on the lugs so I think the tires are both too wide and too tall.
