front turf tires, what are you using

Postby Keith L » Wed Feb 04, 2009 1:36 pm

I need to replace the 20x8.00-10 front tires on my project. I have been doing some searching on the web for tires and have found heavy duty golf cart tires or tires that look like rear tires. Seems like the Carlilses might be my best bet for price and appearance. Any other ideas on this?
Thanks Keith

Go to; www.gokartgalaxy.com and look at there tires. I really like the firestone turf and field tires i just put on my 122 cadet on the rear these were around $100 each at that time. The 21"-800-10" Firestone Turf & fields for the front of the 154 go for $140 each now. Then i looked at the other tires they have listed and they offer the carlile 21"-800-10" 4ply turf trac r/s for just $53.97 each. Thats a far cry from the cost of firestones for sure. The oil prices sure have effected the price on the tires too. When i first seen the increase in the tire prices i went to ebay and found tucker tire had 26"-1200-12" rear turf tires for $130 with shipping for 2 tires. I jumped on two pairs knowing that my other non running cadets will need them soon. Now i just need 2 sets of front tires.

I would shop around too.

I got some really short valve stems from; http://www.patchboy.com I think there around 3/4" long. I like using the shortest valve stems so there out of the way from getting hit with sticks when i'm in the brush.

3/4" valve stems TR#412 rubber snap in #17-412 50 for $13.50

Using this short stem allows you to use the wide frame cub cadet rims turned around on the narrow frame spindles.

Bill What we do around here to protect valve stems is to slip a flat washer over the stem till it is just below the threads then spot weld the washer to the rim. This keeps the stems from being snagged and torn off by field debris. Like stalks and clods, big rolls of hogwire that grandpa buried 50 years ago. :censored:
