need advice
I'm usually over on the Fcub side, but I've found a neat little lowboy. The serial # is 17249J. Was there a different run of serial #'s for the low boy, as it isn't in keeping w/ Fcubs at all. What year would that be? Its a square nose, white and yellow model w/ 42" deck under it. It looks very straight, w/ good turf tires, a leaky radiator, and what sounds like bad o-rings or gasket in the oil pump as touch control oil works into the crankcase. The sheet metal is excellent, and the man says it doesn't smoke and runs well. He'll have it running for me tomorrow he says... he wants $850 for it... Worth it?
I've never met a tractor I didn't like....but I have found some that were greatly annoying....

Re: need advice
Kelley, look over the ATIS site for the SN's. What you are talking about I believe is a regular lowboy, and not a numbered series Cub. http://www.atis.net/CubFAQ/cub_faq.html
From the SN (17249) it would appear to be a mid year '63, right after the change from round sheetmetal to square (change at SN 17201). As far as if it is worth it, If you want it I would say so. Not exactly giving it to you, bud not a bad price at all.
