154 Plow Rig - Photos

Postby Buzzard Wing » Thu Nov 27, 2008 12:48 am

This 154 Lo Boy has been sitting by the local Cub Cadet dealership for a few days so I snapped a couple of photos.

Nice setup, full cab, hydraulic angle. The snow plow frame looks to be just like a 54a, but the rest looks like truck plow.

I thought the wiper was cool, as are the lights. Real nice work on the cab, even has pockets for the 3 point(?) hitch....

I'm with Kevin on this one. The cab takes all the fun out.

John,

You still have to get in and out of the Cab. I'm not that limber, or small, any more. :) :)

Howdy Kevin.... all is great out this way. We missed ya at Cecil's.

Not sure who would have gone to that kind of expense for a 154 cab, but there are some fairly wealthy folks around here.... just wish I could borrow some space to store a Cub or two in a garage. Possibly I should advertise, 'will mow for storage space'??

Yup thats my SIMS cab exactly for my int154 cub. It has wipers, signal lights on the rear sides and a rotary flasher on the roof. I purchased a cb radio, am/fm casset and a 12v heater for mine too. If i do put it on i may add a coleman roof air conditioner for mowing. I like the open air jeep tractor for plowing but the blowing snow and hail sometimes ruins my outdoor fresh air experience.

Thats kind of a heavy plow setup on it. Looks like they used part of the int snowplow and added a fisher plow lift with lower cylinders for turning it. They used the lifting rails to hold the plow lifting bracket. With the cab thats awesome to plow with i'm sure.

I would have to cut the window so it opens so i could get in the cab. I think the door is too small for me right now. The more i look at this the more i like it for spending lots of time snow plowing this setup is hard to beat.

The only things that i see wrong with it weight wise he could of used one double acting cylinder to turn the plow. And used the orginal mechanical plow lifting setup to lighten up on the front axle. I don't think the wider turf tires on the front end help much at all, i think they would take away some force to push them thru the snow so skinny tires are better in the snow on the front end. I wonder how the wider 13.6x16's stack up against the 8,3x24's in the snow both with tire chains? Again with 4x4 trucks even with wider tires being driven its still more drag to get them starting to turn in deep snow i've been there. I would think the skinny tires would eliminate this or avoid driving in deep snow by keeping the plow down but thats hard to do all the time.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

you can keep that open air theory. I'll take the heated cab and radio.

I would take the cab too, especially depending on the weather, we can get some nasty coastal storms around here.... it's always windy (good for sailing, not as good for snow removal)

Heard tell it is owned by a school department. I knew it was someone (or something) with a lot of money!

These cabs go for 3k. I was going to sell mine but had no takers so i deceided to keep it and use it.

I been hit enough with the wind and hail in my face i think having the cab on it would be great.

The little door maybe a problem for some of us but i was thinking of cutting the side window so it can be hinged too. That would make life much easier for getting in and out of it.

For the summer the doors do come off like the old jeep doors did. Just open them up and lift up. I was thinking a small 12v fan would blow air enough while mowing too. If it turns out to be that hot the coleman roof air conditioner would be the next option.(creature comfort)

that is a serious rig, not much need for that down here unless it had A/C. then it would have to have a mower instead of a blade.
