185 LO Boy steering assembly

I am having trouble removing the3 steering assembly. I have the manual and it says to remove the steering wheel,done that, remove the ball joint, done that, remove cap screws, all 4bolts done that, and then the hard part, remove the assembly from the tractor. Can't seem to get the last part, is there some trick, , I can't get the gear support past the bottom frame rail
Any words of wisdom, am I missing something?
