Does anyone know what is the correct size of battery for a 154? The battery I got with mine, looks a good bit like a tiny Honda battery.

I measure the battery box then i go looking for the highest CCA battery that will fit in the area of the battery box. Don't get a battery thats too small of a CCA. You have to go big CCA when changing batteries.

CCA; cold cranking amps

I just put a 700CCA battery from TSC in my cub cadet 100 no problems starting in cold weather there. I think it was around $75. I'm not to fond of the little lawn and garden batteries in the later cadets too.

My jeep tractor has a 1,000CCA battery in it.

Its not about the cost its a PIA for me to drag out the battery/starter/charger or get the jumper cables and another vechicle to start it when the smaller battery doesn't start it after sitting in the cold. Of course in the cold weather is when things fail too. That can be avoided upfront and when we buy a good Big CCA battery.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

The 154, 185, and 184 take a 22NF battery. They are available at NAPA and our TSC also has them. They are around 600 CCA

On my 52 cub i'm thinking of super sizing my battery box so a larger one can be used in it too. I was thinking of a plastic lined battery box too.
