Farmall Cub

Ok i was thinking of changing over my front spindles on my 154. My orginal ones have the center bolt with no lugs. I was thinking of picking up an extra set of 5 bolt trailer hubs and converting an extra set of spindles to fabricate them so they would accept the trailer spindles/hubs. Then i can pick up a set of modular 400/500-12 rims. I would save my orginal rims and spindles so it can be changed back so the tractor gods won't get mad at me. What do you think or is there an easier way to converty my tractor to hubs? Winter is almost here and its almost time to gather parts for my restoration in the spring.

I don't especially like the 154 lawnmower type hubs, but 3 1/2" rims are plentiful to replace the Cubs 2 1/2" standard rims and still fit the original hubs. Is that your goal?

I don't like the one piece hub and rims that my 154 has too it is my thinking to correct it. I don't like the hubs with the wider front little turf tires too. I want the best of both worlds 5 lug hubs and rims with 3 threaded tractor tires. I don't like changing it over but its the only way to get them i guess plus its a little stronger too with the tapered bearings and the sealed hubs.

The 154 I had used wheels exactly like my other Cubs. I guess that's why we weren't communicating. It was only the hubs that were different. I didn't think much of the simple hubs that simply slipped over a stub axle.

Yup you have the end result i'm looking for seperate hubs with rims. I have no clue why International didn't keep the 154 cub front wheels the same as its farmall cousin. I guess they did but went in different directions too. At times they had the perfect setup.

I no longer have that 154 but if it helps any the serial number was 014732. I nearly parted it but sold it for $500 so it could remain a tractor.

Hey George. I forgot to let you know. I did some horse tradin' and that 154 is now setting under my lean-to, pretty as ever

In that case maybe we'd both be happier if I give you a distributor in exchange for the mag? I had forgotten I had an extra but found it later. Did your friend you horse traded with realize the significance of it having Scruffy's old engine?

Thanks for the offer, but I robbed the dist off that lo-boy flood tractor to put on the 154. The 47 that I bought from Ralph had a dist too, so the mag will go on that Cub.

The 154 block that came from WK will go in the 154 and I'll have Scruffy's engine to look pretty, till I find my '53 and '54 to complete my collection

Just for everyones info the 5 lug front spindles are the same bolt pattern as the regular cub.

i think bill is going to buy spindles and a pair of wheels.

So there are actually 3 different designs on the 154/184 cub front ends? One is what i have with the cub cadet type rims with hubs, the ones in Ralph's pics with the cub type rims with 5 lug hubs and the 5 lug hubs with the little turf tires thats usually with the 16" rim rear turf tires.

I guess the farmall cub has only one style rims and hubs. I have no clue why the international cub 154/184 had so many changes.
