Thye used a Zenith carb with cable pull for choke.

In other words, yes. You just can't use the original choke rod; you need to pick up a generic choke pull knob and cable.

The IH carb is the same except for the choke shaft and its' bushings. It's possible to swap shafts, but the steel bushing the shaft goes through is solid on the engine side for the 154. Maybe that wouldn't matter?
