185 Cub Clutch not engaging

Postby drarkanex » Tue Jul 17, 2018 2:30 pm

I've pulled the cover off to view the clutch, pushing the pedal down looks like the clutch is engaging, everything appears to be working correctly, but will not disengage the rear end.

A question is, how hard is it to replace the clutch in this.

Is there an adjustment screw or something that i'm missing

Let me know if you need any more information and I will provide

Welcome to the FORUM. Sorry I can't answer your question but one more post and you can access the Manuals section at Quick links tab, top left corner of this page. Here's a link to a recent discussion on a 154 clutch, the 185 is similar. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=96485 Use the search feature at the top right corner to find other posts about your topic.

Thank you Stan, I love this tractor.. I believe this is the original clutch.. Hardly anything has been done with it. I'm the 3rd owner, 2nd owner was my dad, and he got it from his friend that bought it brand new in 1974... Motor runs like a top when the carb doesn't get mucked up... :) anyways, thank you for your welcome.. and I look forward to being here.

You will need a copy of the service manual because there are a number of precise adjustments made to the 154 and 185 clutch.

You will have to safely see what's working and where things in the clutch/drive train stopped working.

There is a pin or bolt holding the pressure plate to the transmission input shaft. There could be other problems with the clutch. Also there are several parts you might as well replace since you are there.

Any way, you need to determine the cause and not order any parts until you do.
I have an excuse. CRS.
