Hi Guys,
My brother passed away and left me his Lo Boy 154. I think it's about a 1971 model and I have it running great with some time and money spent. It has a single lever hydraulic control that operates both the belly mower lift and the three point on the rear. I seem to remember him showing me the location of the valve to select between the two on the unit that the lever controls behind the side cover and at the time I remember saying "you're kidding!!" because it was going to be hard to get to. I know it's there somewhere, but for the life of me I can't find where it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Hydraulic Diversion Valve
The diverter valve(s) are normally located on the flat panel between the operators calves.

Re: Hydraulic Diversion Valve
Not in this case Eugene. I have traced the lines all the way to the hydraulic cylinders and nothing. I do remember him (years ago) bringing my attention to the lever's unit under the gas tank behind one of the side panels. I was surprised at the difficult access at the time, but beyond that I have no recollection. There is a cap in the middle of the fluid lines on the engine side of the lever's unit, but nearly impossible to get to with normal tools. I'm hoping that it will be under that cap/nut. Wish me luck

Re: Hydraulic Diversion Valve
Dig out your operator's manual. There is a lock out screw on the left side of the frame and a lock out bar for the three point.
If your tractor has a diverter valve it has to be on a hydraulic line. The logical place for a diverter valve is the panel between your legs because all the hydraulic lines run under the panel.

Re: Hydraulic Diversion Valve
I basically had it dropped in my front yard without any manual or supporting materials. The manual I got on line don't have anything similar. I'll check for the the lock out bars. Thanks

Re: Hydraulic Diversion Valve
There is a hydraulic line Tee in the tunnel (between operator calves) that supplies oil to each of the cylinders. There were two methods to manage this.
1) Put a lockout bar on the 3-point hitch that immobilized the 3-point so that the mid-lift (for the mower deck) would actuate quickly
2) Plumb in a hydraulic diverter valve where the Tee is located in the tunnel. This requires a bracket to mount the valve and a short "L" shaped hydraulic line. Here's a non-OEM that is supposed to fit well.

A third option is to put something heavy on the 3-point hitch so that the mower lifts first. I found that one of those trailer movers work very well.

Re: Hydraulic Diversion Valve
My 154 only has the lockout bar on the 3-pt,--no valve on mine.--I think some may have had the valve setup but not all units. thanks; sonny

Re: Hydraulic Diversion Valve
Getting ready to add a 3 pt to my 184. Just an idea but couldn't you just put a cut off valve by the rear cylinder within easy reach to just run the mid cylinder.i think I'm going to try it unless a good diverter falls in my lap. Has anyone else tried this.

Re: Hydraulic Diversion Valve
Here's a picture of my tractor when I was installing the hydraulic diverter valve. You can see the mounting bracket and valve (with handle removed) and I have not yet installed the L shaped rubber hydraulic line. This line goes between the diverter valve and the solid pipe by the frame.
