IH hydraulic cylinder repair kit
Does anyone have any information on where to buy replacement seals or kits to rebuild the mower lift and 3 point hydraulic cylinders? Been looking everywhere on web but not luck so far. Pretty sure the mower lift and the 3 point lift cylinders are the same. I'm looking for the IH one not the Cessna one. Thanks.

Re: IH hydraulic cylinder repair kit
I checked their web site and it shows nothing and they currently have a used cylinder on ebay. It does look very easy to rebuild. I also checked the Case parts site. Wonder if the o-rings and wiper are standard size generic parts ? The cylinder shows as 1 3/4 and that does not seem to be a current standard bore. Thanks for the suggestions.

A lot of the parts lists show the o-rings by size or dash number. If not, you can always take them to a hydraulic shop and have them measured or measure them yourself.

Once you get the cylinder part so you can measure the interior size, etc. Call Baum Hydraulics. you cna get their phone number from their website. They will be able to help you and are great people to work with.

Re: IH hydraulic cylinder repair kit
Good ideas--thanks guys. I was hoping to figure it out and get parts the before disassembling them (thought I would also do the cylinder for the 3 pt while working on things). I won't start until it is warmer but when I do get it done I'll post the data here. The O-rings will no doubt be cheaper if I just buy them separate. The o-rings for my suppresser are 30 cents each in bulk but $10 in a cleaning kit from the manufacturer (the kit has 2!). I will also check the Baum's site.

Re: IH hydraulic cylinder repair kit
Hello, Here's the parts update ( I waited until it was warmer in the garage to work). All measurements are in inches. The U-seal is 2 1/8 OD,1 3/4 ID, and 1/4 tall. The wiper is 1 3/4 ID, 3/16 tall and 2 1/8 OD. I let the folks at the hydraulics shop do the measuring. I went to Yarbrough in Springfield, MO and they are great. They also have a website if you google them. The wiper was $5.65 each and the u seal was $9.97 ( this is a replacement u seal as they didn't have one exactly like the original and this is supposed to be better. You may very well find cheaper prices elsewhere. I now have repair parts and spares I will probably never need! Hope this helps someone.

Re: IH hydraulic cylinder repair kit
Hello All
In Feb I posted data for replacing the seals and wiper in the IH hydraulic cylinder used for the center lift and for the 3 pt lift on my 184. The data I posted was partially wrong and I APOLOGIZE for any problems I may have caused. The error was because the backup ring for the seal was hidden in goo and I missed it completely, also the guy sold me a U-type seal and the correct part is a quad seal. The data I posted for the wiper was fine as was the ID and OD of the components. The bright side is the quad seal is a lot cheaper than the U seal. Life intervened in Feb and I didn't get to work on the parts until last weekend and I found the backup ring then! Went back to Yarboroughs in Springfield, MO (they really are a great place) and now things are assembled and working. Here is the new data: The metal back wiper is the same as I listed in Feb: 1 3/4" ID, 3/16" tall and 2 1/8" OD and $5.65 each. The Quad seal is 2 1/8" OD,1 3/4 ID", and .21 " tall and $3.26 each. The backup ring is 2 1/8" OD,1 3/4" ID, and .070" thick and $2.78 each. The backup ring is a lot better design the original one as it is flexible and one piece and the original was harder and had an angled cut to allow it to be put it. The new one goes in very easy if you put it and the quad ring in at the same time.
Again I hope I didn't cause anyone any grief. Don't worry if you called me names--I deserved it and have probably been called worse. This new data is definitely correct.
