Welcome.

Make one more post and you will be able to access the free, down loadable manuals. Left, top of page, quick links. You need the service manual to disassemble, assemble, and set up the clutch.

Parts are available from our site sponsors. Hamiltonbobs specializes in numbered Cub lowboys.

There are two drive-line types for the 154 series. The early ones had a 2 piece driveshaft and the engine has to be slid forward. The later ones have a one piece driveshaft and the clutch can be removed while sitting on a stool beside the tractor. Respond to your own post and then you should be able to download the 154 service manual.

The later 154s are actually easy to service as far as the clutch but there are some tips to make it go smoother. I have no experience with the earlier 2 piece driveshaft types. If that is what you have then BigBill will post on that procedure since he has some of the earlier 154s.

Post back as to what type of driveshaft you have.

When responding, describe the symptoms of the clutch problem.

There are two "pucks" on the back side of the pressure plate. When you depress the clutch pedal, the pucks engage the pressure plate and stops it from turning. Worn out or out of adjustment pucks and the pressure plate keeps turning, even with the pedal depressed.

Look at the pressure plate first. Check for broken pressure plate springs.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

Maybe I'm not seeing it, but I can't seem to locate the service manual explaining the engine clutch or the PTO clutch for the Numbered Series LoBoy tractors in the PDF Manuals section when I looked. I am actually about to repair the PTO on a Cub 185 LoBoy and will need that manual as well.

On the first page of the PDF manuals, you can click on "IH LoBoy Series-154,185,184" but the service manual isn't there. I'm not sure that it's available on the Forum unless hidden elsewhere.

I bought one from Binder Books. No regrets.

Gotcha. I thought in the previous post it was referenced that it could be found on the forum. I guess with it being such a common issue/fix for these tractors I'm sure there are plenty of topics for one to read for extra help and expierences also.

Manuals are very helpful.

I purchased my manuals years ago from JP Tractor Salvage, bottom of this site. 3 ring binder format, excellent quality.

I put each page in a document protector.

Pretty sure I got my manual; down loaded form this site, GSS1408. 10 sections and I had to down load each to get all 10.
