break in at local veterinarian

I recently learned that a few months ago there was a break in or maybe I should say attempted break in at our local veterinarian,s business. The building is an earth contact type building cut into a hillside with only small windows at ground level on all sides except the front. The would be burglar attempted to go in through one of the rear windows, but the window he picked was the room that Dr. Allen"s pet house cat/Bobcat mix claimed as his own. You do NOT mess with that cat's room. Apparently the burglar was about half way through the window when the cat attacked. I do not know if they ever found the individual, but when Dr. Allen came in the next morning there was plenty of evidence for a crime lab to use if they did.

Dr. Jones, our local country vet, has a similar security system in his office. His is Kelly, a Lynx/Bobcat mix. Last year someone broke in through the cat's window, discovered their mistake and made a rapid departure out the same window. Evidence shows that Kelly followed them to the edge of the property, then jumped back through the broken window into his home. CSI could have studied the blood evidence on the broken glass, and probably would have found more evidence in the crooks pants. The moral of the story is don"t mess with rural vets.

Sadly if anyone tried to tresspass, our outdoor "farm" cats would probably either beg for food or go take a nap on top of their vehicle. Of our three indoor cats, one would hide in the corner, the other one wouldn't wake up, and the third would waddle up and beg for a scratch on the back.....
