rains started up here again!

Postby SONNY » Tue Jun 10, 2014 1:20 pm

We needed rain bad but NOT this much at one time! lol! ---delayed planting and some of the stuff wont get planted at all!---They wouldnt have time to mature in this area planted this late.----they still have not sent my sweet potato plants and now I dont think they would ever make a crop, but since they are paid for I have to plant them IF this place ever sends them!---we were supposed to have them no later than Friday!---- WHICH Friday?
we have taters in full bloom, onions starting to bulb, cabbage starting to head, tomatoes starting to grow good, eggplants looking good and growing.---we will need a long season or these will run out of sun before they mature!
rain this past week has been 1.1---1.6---several .3 to .5 amounts, and cold temps in the 50's and 60's! cabbage and peas are loving it! thanks; sonny

Here in CNY, near Lake Ontario, my second planting is coming along good…The first one the soil was to cold to germinate a lot of the seeds...The Golden Bantam is almost knee high and pumpkins, wintersquash, tomatoes etc etc are still healthy, but we need rain badly….It has been raining all around us here…Its thundering right now but its been doing this and the storms are staying over the lake…Maybe tonight we'll get some rain…Luckily I have a Cistern for one garden, but the Squash, Peas, Pumpkins and Pears apples and Peaches and Grapes are on their own…If we don't get some rain, I gonna have to get some hoses and run out to them….If the Cistern will take it…It went dry twice a couple years ago…I don't like to use the driven well only for the house…Where are you at Sonny….Your Zip code reads 00000…LOL…Hope your crops make out well….You got a lot of them…Dave

Sonny,

Point those big fans you have all around your place towards the ground, that should dry it out pretty quick! :D

Mother Nature has her own schedule, hopefully it will agree with yours soon! I enjoy reading your garden progress posts, hope you are able to get everything going.

Good luck,
David

Went out mowing and the wife stood by the back door pointing toward the lake….( It was getting black, so I swung over to ask her if she'd seen any lightning) Yep she said and please put the tractor away…I did and we finally got a kick butt afternoon thunder shower….It been raining medium/hard for about an hour…Finally the garden is getting a good soaking…Why is my computer working….Because I fired the satellite dish and got ATT with a hot spot for the computer…Imagine….I can use my computer even when the dog across the street barks…. :bellylaugh: ….I can hear the garden growing….
