We got first hard freeze of the season last night and tonight is supposed to really be a zinger!!!---everything black this morning and rain all day here!---got pumpkins picked and loaded on the truck which I backed into the shed until I figure out where to unload them---or get rid of them at---mission wont take them---residents wont eat pumpkins or squash and these are food grade (Libby style processing type pumpkins)
might have a few sweet potatoes out there to dig yet. last week mission got another big load of goodies from us! thanks; sonny

Going to freeze tonight here in Va. to. When ever I feel bad about the weather here. I go to 49960 where I use to live. Next 6 days in a row Ice and Snow.

First snow of the season here in Mountain Maryland today.

The vines should be cut off the sweet potatoes after the first frost to prevent them from turning bitter tasting. I have left them in the ground till thanksgiving before till I got them dug and they were just fine and made for a good dinner. I hope to get some of the last late season apples picked here shortly. Other than that I hope to start plowing next week.

I made a few rounds with the sub-soiler 3 feet deep and the 806 in the lead pulling it this year!---last fall I had the AC 190xtd on it!---takes all the power and heavy tractor that you can throw at it!
Did find a couple 3 pound sweets today, but nothing great about the rest of the row---not going to even dig the late row,---it wont have anything in it,---planted too late and too dry this year here! thanks; sonny

Frost last night. Hard freeze tomorrow night. Good thing, kills all the bugs in the woods. Need to start harvesting fire wood for next couple of winters.

Couple weeks ago I went into woods to check for downed trees, horse flies ate me up, and then the chiggers.

Hauled a pickup load of fire wood to son's house. Wife helped me load - toss - the wood into pickup bed. At son's house, I'm on the ground unloading and stacking and wife is in the pickup bed sliding the wood to the rear of the truck. Wife yells "snake". I turn around and wife, bad knee and all, is on the ground beside the pickup, pointing toward the front of the pickup bed. No snake in site. I move some of the remaining fire wood pieces around and there is the snake. About the size of a large night crawler.
