Bitter Peas

Any Pea-Pickers out there got an idea of what would cause my heirloom purple blossom peas to turn bitter...The plants look half way healthy bar the rain and the hot-weather....The hybrid Sugar Ann snap peas don't seem to be bothered as much, but their not as sweet as normal....I suspect hot weather, to much rain but maybe something else....

Peas are usually bitter in hot weather. Plant as early as you can work the soil, for best flavor/. Ed

Thanks Ed, I figured it was heat or to much rain.....Last couple of years has been tough to plant crops that like cool weather as well....At least for me as I don't return from Florida till the 1st of April....I had the same problem last year...Anyhow thanks for the response...Dave
