Opening Day

Postby Goraidh (Jeff) » Wed Oct 03, 2012 8:36 pm

So, are you guys ready for hunting season? Here in Maine we have a lottery for moose permits, but once again my name wasn't drawn. So, I'll look forward to deer season that begins on October 27th. Does anyone have any cool trips planned?

We have the lottery for Moose too. Don't have my deer ticket either. Was down by the brook yesterday checking out stock for my next project -- guess what was there ... yup deer tracks

Time to get your deer tag, Rudi. When does your season begin up there?

Opening day was Oct. 1 here in Michigan. I haven't been out yet though. I don't get too excited until a bit later. I will probably get out this weekend sometime to see what I see. I had a trail camera out for a while and only got pictures of does, fawns and a few young bucks.

I've got a weeks trip planned to PA in November to bow hunt whitetails. One problem is the owner of the farm where we hunt has surgery last week to have 10" of his colon removed. He says he'll be ready for us to come but he doesn't know how active he will be. I hope things work out. If not, well, I've got the week off and deer here that need hunting!

Pretty much the same time yours does. Maine and NB are pretty close on hunting season and regs. Are you going to Cecil's????

Ricky, I do like the photos your trail camera took. I'd like to add one of those to my gadget collection one of these days. Good luck in PA--I hear they have good sized deer down there.

Rudi, I've not decided yet whether I will be going to Cecil's. I'd really like to, but transportation is a bit of an issue right now (Bronco failed inspection, and I've a few things to get fixed). I bet it'll be a great time out there at the Fest. Are you going?

Most definitely. We are leaving Wednesday after lunch. Should be at Cecil's by Thursday sometime....

I think we are going to run by Fredericton over to Woodstock/Houlton and down the I-95
