Nubian Goats & Rhode Island Reds
I am tickled with how my Rooster is coming along ,he is a beaut. I picked him up in Limerick Pa. over by the nuclear power plant I used to work in. He was in a yard with a much larger bird that was picking his tail feathers and they were separated from the hens, he was about a yr old and I was putting him in with ten ,five and a half month old hens. when I got him home I explained to him that when I put him in with the hens the next day he was going to think he'd died and went to heaven. Looks pretty happy to me

Rhode Island Reds are the only chickens I can recognize. Got a memorial to them in Adamsville and they are the state bird!

Re: Nubian Goats & Rhode Island Reds
No problem. I love the goats and red's. I had a Rhode Island Red as a pet chicken on my grandfathers farm, years ago (I was about 6 years old). The next summer I went back to the farm I immediately asked where "Red" was and my grandfather said "Oh him, he was delicious." He could be cruel in a funny way.

I think it's a noble contribution to society.... When I was biking around Ireland I talked to a lady that seemed to proud of her birds, she was most excited that I was from RI and knew they were RI reds.
The memorial isn't a statue, but a bronze plaque on a chunk of a typical field crop for the area. Obviously outside your range Ed?? Very close to Gray's grist mill. If I had to guess, I would say it's a Ford tractor on the trailer in the second picture.

Looks like a Ford. Not totally outside my range. Been to Gray's mill, a couple of times. They wanted me to grow Rhode Island flint corn for them. I said I didn't think it would grow in Massachusetts! Ed

Actually in Gainesville Georgia they have a chicken statue. Someone years ago proclaimed Gainesville as the broiler capital of the world so they erected a large statue with a rooster on top. I'm not sure Gainesville is still the broiler capital but they do still produce a lot of chickens. It was against the law at one time to eat chicken in Gainesville with a fork.(I've heard that all my life but I'm not sure it's true.)
