My neighbor that farms the field here, plowed up the peanuts today. Looks like a good turnout.

For as dry as it has been, that is a lot of "penders" Mr. E.

Here are a few pictures of the harvesting process. The farmer's tractors are older "classics" for the most part. They are all red, and still run excellent.

There wasn't much in the way of commerical peanut production here, if you went north past Greenville NC you began to see some....anyhow in the last 5 years or so peanut production has shifted to our area. THey have just about finished picking them down here. One farmer had a new or nearly new self-propelled peanut combine. I saw it running in the field a couple days ago, of course no camera! Pretty impressive rig. It would take a lot of Jif or Peter Pan to pay for a rig like that.....

Haven't planted any peanuts in the garden the last couple years but I need to.....I love a green peanut almost as good as a boiled or roasted one.

The stuff they were rolling up, is that used for straw or is it good hay/forage/feed?

It can be used as feed for cattle.
