My wife is a kindergarten teacher every year at this time she hatches chichens for the class but this year thing arent going well, maybe some one can tell us what went wrong ,,,,I think I know but I am not a farmer so very well could be wrong.

Here is the run down , She bought two dozen eggs at local farm they came home in egg containers and then at the farmers advice they just stayed out at room temp for the night next day she put 12 eggs in the incubator and another teacher took the other 12 eggs and put them in anothere incubator now here is where things went wrong imop a 5th grader came to school with a wild birds egg that she found at home on the ground the little kid was so proud to rescue the egg and asked to put it in m wifes incubator so they did everyone was watching but disaster struck :( my wife tried to put a small magic marker X on the egg for turning purposes and guess what  the egg cracked and leaked ib to the incubator the students were so sad and the wife wanted to cry (really) anyway after the disaster the students went home and wife cleaned up broken egg mess, fast forward to the present the teacher who took the other dozen has chicks they are hatchibg nicley :D but my wifes dozen not so good none are hatching yet and she sees egg movement on only three eggs the rest are stone still,,,,,,, so something went wrong here I think that the wild broken birds egg made the chicken eggs sick but thats just a logical guess ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Any ideas ??

Out of 24 eggs my wife got 4 chicks and the other teacher got 5 it was not a good year for chicks in the past they did a lot better, oh well the kiddies still liked seeing the ones that made it :)

I'd say the eggs were too old when you bought them. Possibly he had them boxed up the night before the sale and they were too long at room temp. My .02 Grump
