Any Stick Bow Hunters Here?

Just wondered if any stick bow hunters visited this site. I've been bow hunting since 1975 and used a compound until about 1993. I now use a longbow and love it. Really ups the challenge and the degree of satisfaction.
I shoot a 64" custom made Green Mountain longbow 58# @ 28". It's a beautiful bow and a sweet shooter.

Dog gone it Rick, if I had got your tractor we'd had a blast talking Bows and Cubs. I hope to pick up a recurve and long bow someday when my little boys starts hunting with me. I'll let him provide the meat while I have fun playing with my stick bow. :{_}: Someday, someday

I'm currently using a Morrison re-curve. Started bowhunting in 1965, I did a few years (12 -15) with precision compound but I've been back to a recurve for the past 10 year or so. Here is an interesting site. The Green Mountain Traditional Bowhunters at www.centralvermont.com/gmtb/

Hello Paul,

Good to hear from you. Do you attend many traditional shoots during the summer? If you ever attend the Compton Shoot on fathers day weekend, that's right in my back yard, well within 25 miles anyway. The Compton Shoot is a great weekend. I've been to traditional shoots from Coon Rapids MN to Ames IA to the Eastern Traditional and like Comptons the best. Great people and great facility.
Did you do any good hunting this year? You know, we like pictures.

Later, Rick

I just repaired the the link to the Green Mountain Traditional Bowhunters site at http://www.centralvermont.com/gmtb/

It should work now. There are plenty of pictures in the conference/forum section. A user account is not necessary. We do hold an Annual Allard Invitational shoot each year but I just cook or keep score. I did so much competition shooting when I was younger I kind of burnt out on that phase of archery. Time to move over and let the kid's take over...

I've got to sgtart proofreading my posts, I must have edited this 5 time to get it rigght correct....

Great pictures Art!! How old is your grandson? I started my daughter shooting at age 2 1/2 yrs. If I ever get my scanner working, I'll post some pictures of her.

There is just something that kids love watching those arrows fly. Your grandson looks like a bow hunter in the making!! :D Keep up the good work, he's going to love it!!!!

Thanks Rick. He just turned 5 this month, those pictures were over a year ago. He's had a bow in his hand since he could walk, his dad is big into archery and bow hunting, so that's what they live and breathe.

I love the pictures, my little one started a couple years ago at 6 but I've just found out after buying a bb gun for him that's he's going to be shooting left handed. Right handed he can't hit a thing, left he's on every time...

My grandson (Trey) is left handed, but shoots right handed.
