stiff shirts

My SIL has given me a bunch of shirts he does not want anymore. They're real nice but they are starched so much it won't come out. I have washed them a few times with no luck. Still stiff.

Is there any way to get the starch out of these?

Thanks

Mike

My better-half says to soak for a while in hot water. Then run thru the washer, using hot water. Then to dryer with fabric softener.

Let me know if it works. :{_}:

Thanks Mr. E.

I'll try that. I will get some fabric softener :)

Asked my wife the seamstress and she said to wash with white vinegar only not yellow vinegar. I guess white vinegar acts as a fabric softner and pulls the soap and creases out.
Hope this helps

You could also try some baking soda. It is good for getting rid of sticky hairspray. Just dont use it when you use the vinegar. Science experiment!!

I splurged and bought the 14 oz. bottle of white vinegar for .87, added the whole bottle to the hot water in the machine and ran the cycle. Then i ran another cycle with liquid Tide. Ithink 90% if the starch is gone now and the shirts are almost back to normal. I might spring for another bottle next time go to the store :D I will try the baking soda too Ellen.

Thanks everyone. 8) 8) 8)
