Expensive Garden
Monday was such a pretty day that I decided to plow my garden to start getting it ready for my fall garden. I have shrunk the size of it so that now it is not much bigger than my tractor. There is an old stump hole at one end that I have filled in a few times, but still sinks when it is wet. I trimmed my wife's roses back before starting and got sweat in my eyes and 3 month old glasses. After stepping up on the tractor, I took my glasses off and put them in my shirt pocket, made one round trip pass, hit the sink hole and buried up to the PTO. I got off the tractor to assess the situation, reached for my glasses to clean them, you're right, they weren't there. My guess is that I plowed them under too deep for my metal detector to find. I did find 1 12" crescent wrench, 4 nails, 1 lug nut, 1/2 of a lock washer, and a jar lid. I've always said that this ground could grow ball bearings. I just hope it can grow new glasses. I wonder how long it will take them to break ground, bloom, and mature. I may have to plant another pair in order to pollinate them.

Merlin, you must have made quite a spectacle of yourself... Sorry, I couldn't resist. Hope you can find them, I know how expensive they are.

An update on Glasses
My neighbor came over and we ambled out towards the garden and he asked me if I had found my glasses. I told him no and he bent over and picked something up and asked me "is this them?" It was, or at least what was left of them. I wish a Groundhog had found them. Maybe I could have taken them away from him. As an after thought, I was born on Groundhog day.
