Coney Island Hot Dog Sauce

Postby grumpy » Fri Feb 10, 2006 4:29 pm

OK , first off I'm not the better half. My wife is. BUT, I do most of the cooking and This is a great site. We have a local Est. that prides itself on the hot dogs and its secret sauce. This is real close. I make it for our picnics and never have any left over.

2 lbs Hot Dogs
1 1/2 lb Hamburger (make sure finely chopped.)
1 Whole Onion
1 tbsp Chili Powder
2 tsp Paprika
1/2 tsp Curry Powder
1/2 tsp Red Pepper
2 tsp dry mustard
3 tsp Brown Spicey Mustard

Grind Hot Dogs with onion and cook with hamburger and 1 cup of water. Add
spices after browning and cook untill all well done. Spices should be added
to taste. More water can be added if needed.

Simmer on low heat until all ingredients are done as in spaghetti sauce. Can
be frozen.

Good luck. Grump
