Managed to pick over 8 gallons of cherries and made over 24 quarts of jam from them. Did a test dig of the Norland potatoes and the 1 plant I dug up had a half dozen fist sized spuds on it so might be tatoes yet! Cooked them with 2 nice big onions and made soup for supper!

I don’t believe I’ve ever had any cherry jam but I’m pretty sure I’d like it. My wife makes grape jelly and fig preserves and we should have ripe figs before too long. My fig bushes are finally tall enough that the deer don’t get them all. If I could only keep the possums out of the figs and grapes I’d be in real good shape

What kind of canning jar lids are those?

Speaking of canning jar lids, does anyone have a line on reasonable priced canning jar lids? (Flats)

I saw the generic bulk ones online, but for 40 cents a lid is crazy if I am buying 200 or 300 lids at a time!

No way am I paying that!!!

Walmart has the price for generic lids @ $1.47 a dozen and Ball lids for $2.28 a dozen, but I have not saw any since December!

Had all kinds of problems getting Ball lids last fall.
Off brand lids had a high failure rate. Bought some “Ball” lids from Amazon but they were knockoffs from China, even in a box that said Ball. Compared them to real Ball lids, like night and day.

The caps on the jam jars are just storage caps,----they dont seal.
Virginia found some lid flats during the winter and stocked up.

My wife bought me a bunch of these reusable lids for fathers day this year. I haven't tried them yet, but this is definitely on my list of things to try this year.

I have heard about them before, and also a lot of negative comments!

We expect a full report of your experience with them! :)

I have cherry tomatoes and a rabbit or two. When the cherry tomatoes are just about ripe, they are gone. Small animal trap set.

Son says that if I catch the rabbit and release it in the city park the rabbit will beat me home. Park is 100 or 150 yards from the house and 3/4 mile by road.

No one has offered any produce at the local famers market sites this year. Really supprised. I was hoping for sweet corn on the 4th of July.

Edit. Had son backhoe out of the proposed garden on the acreage. Good looking soil, number of large rocks. Pick out the rocks, mix gypsum and humus, fill in the holes, then plant forage radish.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Blackberries are coming in real nice, strawberries are done, red raspberries will be ready in a week.
Vegetable garden is coming along nicely. Just need some dryer weather otherwise we may lose a bunch to mold and rot.
