1975 IH Farmall Cub with Cultivators - SHOW QUALITY

Postby AL Farmall Boy » Tue Jul 17, 2018 7:58 am

FOR SALE: 1975 IH Farmall Cub Tractor made by International Harvester

Restored to factory details. Starts and Runs Perfect with excellent oil pressure. Hydraulics work perfectly and transmission is quiet. Factory 12 volt charging system works well and the steering box is as tight as new. Sheet metal is very straight and it has new automotive paint. The gas tank has been cleaned and lined with tank liner/sealer. New Tires up front & Very Nice Original Matching Rear Tires with No Dry Rot. The original IH Carburetor has been professionally rebuilt.

This tractor has low hours/has seen little use since new......I've gathered that information from the following observations:
Very TIght Steering
Very Tight Shifter
Very Tight & Quiet Transmission
Very Quiet & Smooth Running Engine
Original Cultivator Universal Mounting Frame still has the original Metal Inventory Tag)
Was Owned by a Former Dealership Owner
I PROMISE, YOU WILL NOT FIND A NICER, TIGHTER, BETTER RUNNING CUB TRACTOR THAN THIS ONE.

* SOLD * $xxx cash FIRM for tractor with drawbar hitch and with a Full Set of Cultivators front and rear, as pictured. I will send a Demonstration Video of it upon request.

My 1974 is painted with the same color pattern as Al Farm boy's with the doglegs and shroud yellow. Notice that the 1975 in this pic from Wisconsin Historical Society is white. Interesting!

Those 2 are long-stripe Cubs (started mid-year 1975) and yes the grille surround and dog legs are white on those. The Cub as pictured above is a 1975 (s/n 246xxx) made before the Long-stripe version came out. Mine is painted correctly as far as the grille surround and doglegs go. Now if we got nit-picky, about the only thing on my tractor that isn't painted correctly is the radiator and air cleaner cap. Those parts should be painted white (radiator cap not painted). I chose the yellow because I liked the contrast and knew the change would be suttle and not take away from originality look.

1975 s/n 248125 First "New" International Cub (Long-Stripe Cub) - Somewhere around 518 Long-Stripes made in 1975
1975 s/n 248125 Radiator overflow hose replaced overflow pipe
1975 s/n 248125 Manifold and carb changed (Zenith model)
1975 s/n 248125 Generator changed to alternator

These cubs and the cubs made until end of production in 1979 had hood ornaments, generator oiling holes, black grilles, white grill surround and dog legs, solenoid under floorboard, choke pull cable & not the rod, & the long-stripe cub decal. I think sometime in 1978 the generator oiling holes were removed from the hood. Also, something that I've noticed and never heard anyone else mention is that on EVERY 1975 and up Cub & 140 tractor I've owned, the Touch Control Hand Lever resembles a piece of flat bar with a twist in it rather than the older style lever with rounded edge. That is how I quickly identify a 1975 when they still have the generator. Not sure when that change came along, but I've not ran across a 1974 or older with it. Maybe this is something you all could go check out on your tractor?? Say......check 1973 and up tractors to see what you've got.

Here are "before" pictures of the 1975 Cub that I restored above; and pictures of an original 1978 Cub I have. Both had/have original paint. Also, notice that twisted touch control lever.

On the picture I posted above the info in the note tag reflects to the range of SN's for 1976 indicated in the "what year is my cub" database, it's NOT the tractor in the picture. It's missing the SN tag and the only things that I have to go on physical. The casting codes (all 1976), flexible air cleaner connection, solenoid under the floor pan, ignition key switch, factory installed alternator, clutch safety interlock is partly missing, no hood ornament or holes, no generator oiling holes, zenith carb/choke cable, appears to have original 9.5 tires, and the long black stripe. Sorry if I misled anyone. :surrender:

Likely a reversed image.
