Ahh...Not on the mobile version. That's why I wasn't seeing it. And the 'new' description refers to the new format, not new ads as I was hoping. Thanks Rudi.
Maybe the new format will grow on me, but I'm not a fan right now. And apparently other forum members aren't if the number of ads being posted is any indication. I assume this classified section can be subscribed to even if you aren't a forum member? Some forum members are generous and offer special deals to fellow forum members. I'm afraid we may see that disappear. Growing pains can be a pain sometime...

If you are a buyer, you DO NOT need to register an account -- you use the "contact" form to get in touch with the seller.

If you are a seller, yes, you DO need to register to place an ad.

Examples please?

I have noticed the absence of members that have greatly contributed to this forum in the past. It could be other factors for the reason but I have felt changes in the forum might have strayed them away.

That's a matter of opinion. :D Vern

When we moved from the old BBS style forum to the new phpBBS version there was a lot of resistance .. nobody likes change and nobody likes having to learn new ways to do things. Human nature. However that didn't last long and most of our members found it an improvement. That was back when there were only a two hundred or so users. The old style was already becoming overloaded. Making that change enabled our community to grow and become what it is. Like a family, we continue to grow, evolve and hopefully improve. When the Classifieds were first introduced there was a lot of resistance to it, members didn't like having to go to a different forum to see what was for sale. Same with the addition of the different forums that we have with in the site. All things may not appear at the moment to be an improvement but in time the general consensus will reflect that improvement is a good thing.

When people who have been part of our community depart for whatever reason that is regrettable but how is one to know which changes to adopt and which to not adopt? I do believe that in the majority of the loses it was other factors that may have contributed to their departures. Sometimes it is simply life that causes the departure or other reasons beyond our ken. And sometimes it is simply life that keeps some of us here as well as it is a lifeline.

The most important thing is that when change occurs that we embrace it and learn from the change. Grousing is normal.

Well yes, it is a matter of opinion. But the way I see it, you make one click to see the ads and select your category. Seems easy enough for me. On the old forum you had the newer posts on top just as the new one does.

The one main change is you can not reply to a post where everyone can see the reply. Most of the time a potential buyer would reply with "PM Sent" so basically that is about the same, you have to send an email. The other change is now if somebody asks a specific question others won't see the response. Also if the seller edits his post, nobody will really notice unless they mention "Edit" in the title or repost it.

But it is change we can get used to. At least I have so far.

I agree and I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I have been a member on this forum along time but its getting out of hand when forum members are leaving or being banned. I know I've had my feelings hurt a time or two recently and have stayed away, now the classifieds sort of kills it for me. I love parts and pieces and deals and new finds and all the excitement that goes along with that. Used to the forum was a place for that. It's bad when the same sets of rules don't apply to everyone. I don't know all the details of everything that has transpired recently but I'm sure it's all because someone got their feelings hurt. Maybe we don't need so much classification and sub forums and just let the main forum be like the main forum has been for the past umpteen years.

I somewhat agree with Brandon on this. I really miss the remarks and sometimes clarifications by other members concerning an ad. Sometimes the seller would unknowingly represent an article and someone would come on and correct the information. I have even seen things offered for one tractor, say a cub, when it was actually for a Super A. This new system does not allow for this. I'm not against progress but not all change is good.

One good thing is I guess if I post a few tractors that I buy the post will say put and not be moved to an obscure place

Billy,

That is a valid observation about the comments. There is a comment feature, which I turned off since I was not sure if it would be used; that feature is now turned back on. So if you see something that you question or you just want to say "Nice Tractor", comment away.

Thanks,
Dennis

Well my opinion sits with a few others. Seems this time we took a step backwards. The new format isn't easier to read by any means, less adds show up per page, the world is more mobile(phone and tablet wise) now than ever and this format doesn't even work sucessfully unless your at home on an old fashion style computer. Try posting pictures to show your stuff for sale with your phone or most tablets. Won't work. I don't mean t hurt anyone's feelings here guys and isnt aimed at anyone... Just what really gives. You have half of the classifieds in one section, then ya gotta back up to see what's in the vine section. I enjoyed thing a lot better the way they were before, something ya know... If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just my .02 cents....... My rants over.

I find that the new listings seem to be lacking in members using it, not much action like the old forum, almost seems like a separate site and some of the former members that used it are not around now makes it seem a lot smaller, and yes the comments about something is missed as you can say to someone that's missing a part or its listed wrong, the membership does not seem to have warmed up to this new classified section
just my thoughts
