Modern alternative to IH Touch Control Fluid

Postby Rick Torpey » Fri Aug 30, 2019 1:00 pm

Does anyone have a suggestion for a modern substitute for the original IH Touch-Control Fluid that came with the Farmall Cub?

Finally got a mover deck installed and want to go out and make some mistakes in the yard.

Regards,

Hi,
IH changed it years ago to Hy-Tran fluid. Case IH dealers sell it.
There are other brands, if you buy one, be sure it works with IH systems before buying it.

Below are pages from the 1955 Cub owner's manual.
The 1st page shows the parts of the system, and where the filler plug is.
The 2nd page shows how to change the fluid, be sure to do what it says in paragraph 4 to remove the air from the system. The system holds 3 1/2 Pints of fluid to change it, so a 1 gallon can is plenty.

If you are checking the fluid level, the arms should be in the rear, or down position. The fluid rises in the system as the arms go to the rear, so if you fill it when the arms are ahead, it will be overfilled. :)

I can purchase Hy-Tran at my local Napa store. If not in stock I know that they can order it for you.

You can use any universal hydraulic fluid that is MS1207 or MS1209 compliant.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.
