Re: cub 125
Yes, the Cub Cadet 125 was a 12-horsepower, hydrostatic drive model that was built from 1967 to 1969. It was the largest of the garden tractors Cub Cadet built in those years. Here is a picture of what it should have looked like when new:

This is actually a photo of a 124, which is a 12-hp, gear drive model, but cosmetically they are exactly the same.
Let me know if you want to know anything else.

Re: cub 125
Have owned a 125 for many years. Wife likes to mow with it. Engine at full throttle, use the hydrostatic drive to match the grass height.
Parts are readily available. Kohler engine tune up and repair parts from the local auto parts store. Other parts for the tractor can be obtained from the Case/IH dealer, Cub Cadet Dealer, and a New Holland dealer if you have the IH part number.
I get most of my IH parts from the local auto parts store and New Holland dealership. Why, because they are in town and it's a considerable drive to the nearest IH dealer.
Edit: I own 4 narrow framed Cub Cadets. Last winter I went through/maintained/repaired two, including the 125
125, I only had to change the hydro's filter and oil and an ignition tune up.

I have an excuse. CRS.

Re: cub 125
Hi, I just bought a 125 and do not know how to connect the rototiller, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Re: cub 125
The rototiller requires two special attachment pieces that first bolt to the tractor, allowing the rototiller to attach to them. First is the rear sleeve hitch, lifting mechanism, that provides lift for the tiller. Second is the rear angle gear drive, which allows you to run the drive belt from the front engine PTO, down under the tractor, to the bottom of the angle drive on the rear. The tiller mounts to the angle drive assembly, and there is a short belt that runs from the angle drive to the tiller.
This first photo shows both the rear sleeve hitch lifting mechanism (small white bar and rockshaft mounted just under the fenders) and the tiller angle drive assembly (bracket and angle drive attached to the lower rear differential housing) installed on a Cub Cadet 149. These items remain on the tractor regardless if you have the tiller attached or not.

This second photo shows the tiller and the front mule drive (part of the mower deck drive assembly) that you must leave on the tractor to run the belts down under the front of the tractor. Also, on the tiller, you can see the small belt that attaches to the pulley on the rear angle drive assembly.

Without all of these pieces, you cannot attach a tiller and make it work on a Cub Cadet, unless you buy a generic Agri-Fab style tiller that just pulls behind and has it's own engine to drive it.

Re: cub 125
OK, got it hooked up, pretty much. Need a long belt but don't know which one to buy. My serial number for the tractor is 279030. My serial number for the tiller is model 2 serial 3130283u008943. I can not find the exact match with the serial numbers and can't afford to buy the wrong belt. I did look at the cubcadet chart but can't find my serial numbers cross referenced to exact size for serial numbers and model 2 tiller.

Wowzii,
See my last entry on the other post. You're having trouble finding the correct belt because the model 2 tiller was not originally out until the Wide Frame CCs were built in the 1970s. Your 1960s CC 125 is a "Narrow Frame" tractor, so you'll likely need the belt for the 1/1A tiller.

Re: cub 125
Thanks Bill,
Fingers crossed, that is what I ordered and don't see how it can't work. When you hook up the tiller, should it be at ground level? I have never used a tiller hooked onto a tractor and feel like a stranger in a foreign land.

Re: cub 125
You'll have to play with the depth when you set it up. You need to have it setup such that it will lift a minimum of 2 to 4 inches off the ground so that you can lift it out of the ground when you're done tilling at the end of a row. Doing that should let it dig several inches below grade when the lift is down. Again, all depends on what you want to do and how you set it up.
