I know I run her hard with a 50" deck, but noticed a different sound last time I mowed. I assumed the head gasket went. Nope, a hole blew through the head near the spark plug. I'm suspecting a crack, then gradual erosion of the aluminum until a hole developed.. Anyone else heard of this?

Re: Hole in head
I have had two aluminum heads with burnt holes. On mine the holes were above the head gasket, burning a hole in the side of the head.
Cause, unknown. The Cub Cadet engine ran for years with no head or head gasket problem.

I have an excuse. CRS.
