My first IH was a Cub...

Postby Barnyard » Sun Mar 30, 2014 2:56 pm

...Well actually it was a Cub Cadet. Long before Cubs ever showed up I had bought this from some friends. It had problems with the belts staying on and it blew a little smoke so they got tired of it. Its a 125 hydro and like everything else I never messed with it. It has been sitting in the garage at my other place for ten years and I finally moved it into BOB, where it will probably sit another ten years, who knows!

Yes, that is a Cub front tire on the right rear, the stock tire wouldn't hold air. Anyway, it isn't much, but it is part of the IH family in the barnyard.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

If it's your first IH, that makes it a historical artifact. I sometimes wish my 124 was a 125. Oh well, I have a 129 now.

David, you know my policy, my stuff doesn't go in the shop unless we are out of work or it is a quick fix for something needed at the Bash. :D So far it looks like we have work to do on others, time will tell.

If the Cub Cadet still has compression, the biggest problem will be cleaning the fuel system.

I'm quite sure it was a 125 we had years ago. It was getting to be quite a challenge to keep it going, poor governor, lazy hydro - its uphill speed was much less than its downhill, so I sold it. Get it going, it is a nice machine. The only brick I will throw is that it has a large turning radius. Vern

My son has a 124 and a 125. Both are work horses and he's not easy on any machine.

Nice looking CC. I like that style; has "work" and "use me" written all over it! I look forward to seeing it up close and personal (along with the rest of your collection) in May. :coffee:

I wouldn't call it a collection per se, but that may take up most of your time here.

Sure David, I'll let you do that. I messed with it just a bit yesterday and I'm afraid the prolonged sitting has taken it's toll. It sat outside for awhile under a tarp before being moved into the garage. The motor seems to be locked. Hmmm...maybe I better play around with it some more.
