Well as some may know we have a Lot Of Rocks in Arkansas,
And keeping blades sharp on you lawn mower here is hard to do.
So I came up with another one of my Great idea's,
I wasn't sure it would work, but it works better than steel blades.
I took off the old blades and cut them down,
and then welded 4 7/16 nut on each one,
then put my walk behine weed eater line on them,
I cut the back lot where I have the most rocks, the lot is 112 X 150 feet
and the line showed almost no ware at all.

Hi Chief,
Necessity is often said to be the mother of invention, and some people say poverty is the father. There may be a grain of truth in both saying's. Either way your idea is great thinking and no sharpening

That sounds like a great idea I'd like to try asap. Looks like each loop is through the 2 nuts, no knots or anything?

Great idea and implementation! I like the almost no wear aspect of this set up. Do the weed eater strands move enough air to throw the cut grass out the chute of the mower? Steve K.

Re: Weed Eating Lawn Mower
Yep No Knots in the Line, and it is working fine, Cut the front yard today and it looks great,
it is working better than I could ever Dreamed of.
No sparks if you hit a rock, So No Fire in the Fields,
and to change the line I will just lift the mower up with the boom pole on my big tractor,
that maybe the only problem I can see for some people is to lift the mower,
But they need to lift it if they want to change or sharpen the blades,
it is working better than I could ever Dreamed of.

Re: Weed Eating Lawn Mower
You could get along with 1 nut (the outer one ) if you loop it through itself like on the walk behind weed eater. My first question when I saw this was is there enough mass to keep the engine happy. As I read the story I saw that there is enough. Quite a nice idea. Wish that I had thought of it.

Sounds like you should patent it and sell the 'miracle flex blade' solution.

Re: Weed Eating Lawn Mower
Very clever Chief! Beats picking up rocks like I used to do on my grandfathers' farm back in the day... he always told me Arkansas grows rocks and after a day of clearing a field only to return the next morning and seeing all the "new" rocks, I believed him
