CC 1330 questions

Postby Bob McCarty » Sat Jun 15, 2013 1:31 pm

A friend of mine just got one with a mower and bagger for $75. Colorado paint, sounds and runs good. Can someone tell me if there are problems with these that need to be watched for, year of mfg, etc.? He wants to disconnect the switch that stops the mower when you put it in reverse. Any downsides to that?

Thanks, Bob

The 1330 is a lawn tractor, not a garden tractor, so it's pretty lightly built and meant for just mowing small lawns. They have a belt driven Pierless transmission and they were actually pretty decent little machines as long as they were cared for. If one gets abused, they fell apart rather quickly. $75 is a STEAL for any Cub Cadet, and the bagger alone was probably worth $100. They were made in 1992/93. Yes, one of the first things I would do is disconnect that switch. Actually, you can reach under the dash and take out the screws that hold the switch to the dash, and either slide it over so it does not actuate when you slide the hydro lever into reverse, or you can take it off and just let it hang under the dash. You cannot disconnect it, as it is part of the safety interlock system, and the tractor won't start!
