Picked this one up a week ago, havent started to do anything to it yet, but thought I'd post some "before" pics to get a thread started. I bought it not running, the previous owner said he used it a few years ago (2 or 3) and then the gas went bad and wouldnt start so he left it and bought a new one. It seems to be pretty much complete except the crazy craftsman seat thats on it, and the engine turns freely by hand. Seems to have good compression, but havent put a gauge on it. Like I said I havent even tinkered with it yet, but hopefully a good carb /oints cleaning and a battery will get some life back into her. I'm new to Cub Cadets with the exception of the 1200 my Dad had while I was growing up. (great tractor by the way) Thought if any of you could give any pointers or tips for things I should look for or problem areas with this model. Any help would be great. Also does anything look out of place, missing, changed??? Thanks in advance. I plan on stripping it down to the frame, and completely going through the whole tractor. Its lasted 40 years, hope to make it last another 40!!!!

Looks like a nice solid tractor. Would make a good project. Besides cleaning the carb and points I would pull the gas tank off and empty it out and check to see how clean it is inside.
JimT If you can't find it, don't lose it.

Very nice. At least you're starting from the knowledge that it didn't run. It's all downhill from there!!
