HELP!!!!!!! 147 dipstick???
My neighbors 147 cub cadet has a short dipstick like around 6". I thought it was broken off. I ordered a new one and its only around 6" long too. Is that right? If i fill the oil to that level the crank will be covered with oil. I believe the oil will be at the bottom of the cylinder and thats not right. Whats wrong?
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

Where is this dip stick, on the left side below the carb, or on the right side?
If it is on the right side in the tall tube behind the starter generator, that is just the oil filler cap on a 147, and not the dipstick, even though it looks like a cut-off dipstick. The oil level gage, or dipstick, is on the left side below the carb, in the cam gear cover (just behind the points cover). It may be a knurled knob, or it may have a loop on it like a normal dipstick.

They don't show an oil filler tube. The 1450 uses a different oil stick also.

Thanks guys for your expert help I don't have much knowledge about all of these yet but i'm learning.
I like my INT 154 loboy cub(a cub cadet on steroids) but the little down sized INT cub cadets are a hoot too. How can you "NOT" own one of everything? A INT cub loboy 154/185/184, a cub cadet and a farmall cub highboy/loboy sure do make a nice collection.

I had made another post this morning, but it must be out in cyber space some place because it's not here.
These pictures are of a 147 engine showing the oil fill and oil gage (dipstick) locations and what the two look like
These pictures are of the same thing, but on a 149. The 149 uses the same location for both the oil fill and dipstick.
