deck belt for 2185 with 48 in. deck

Postby cbmt99 » Tue Apr 24, 2007 4:43 am

I bought a used 2185 with 48 in. deck that came with no manuals. The belt that drives the blades broke and the Cub dealer told me the belt I needed which I purchased. It seems too big as every time I run into even the slightest heavy grass the blades stop and I have to wait for them to start turning again. What siae belt is it that I need?

There may be other belt numbers than these i foumd as there are 3 different parts manuals depending on the SN and you may need the deck model number and SN also to get the right belts. I found these numbers but they may be iincorrect. The belt numbers did't copy and I.m not going back.

Go here and you should find them with the correct information

You will need to take your tractor and mower deck serial number in to the CC dealer to get the correct belt. They made several different tractor/deck combinations of the 2185 over the 6 or so years that they built them. You probably have the wrong belt.

Also, you can take your model number and serial number off of the tag under the seat, and the tag off of the mower deck and go to this website:

http://manuals.mtdproducts.com/mtd/public/list.jsp

to download manuals of your tractor and mower. You have to play with the spaces and - in the serial number, so if you put them in and it tells you nothing is available, try with spaces, then without, etc. I just downloaded a manual for a 2185 that I'm servicing for a friend, so I know that they are there.

Your belt is probably a 754-3041. I purchased and installed one just before Easter on a 2185 with a #301 48" deck. I purchased both belts from an IH CASE dealer but have misplaced my receipt. Price for both belts was in the $70s.
I have found that ww.cubcadet.com is a valuable site for checking part numbers.

Something is definitely wrong. You shouldn't have to slow down and "wait for the blades to catch up". I agree...sounds like the wrong belt.
