I have two cub tractors I am wanting to know more about?
I have a 1970 International Cub tractor. At least I think it is? How do I find what year it is, and the horsepower. It is gas and looks to be in pretty good condition. Runs like a top! I want to also know more about it like the value. I have some digital pictures I could post. All four tires are like new especially the rear ones. It does not have a mower but the brackets are there to attach to. What size belly mower will this run. If I keep it where could I find a used one and will it sell with out one on it. All lights are on it front and under the belly. they do not work as I can tell but they could. Also the PTO does not seem to want to go in. With the clutch out it will seem to catch but with the clutch in I can not seem to get it pushed back far enough to engage. I would really like to know more about this little machine. I also have an Cub Cadet 1811 twin cylinder garden tractor with a 18 hp Kohler and a 46" deck. This runs excellent also while everything on this works. .....tail and headlights both. I would like to sell this also but do not know where or for how much. I am also curiuos as to the age? Both are the yellow and white and the 1811 has a white deck that is a solid as can be!

The 1970 tractor you are referring to should look something like the one on my web page which was built until 1969 Cub Cadet 124: http://mysite.verizon.net/ressz3cs/gitr ... n/id4.html
or the next model, a 1x6 / 1x7 series was built from 1969 to 1971: http://www.ihregistry.com/cd2/post1/Hug ... mehome.jpg
or the next model, a 1x8 / 1x9 series, which was bilt from 1971 to 1974:

In any case, the PTO engages when the lever is pushed forward. It disengages when the lever is pulled back, and depresses the clutch fingers on the PTO. It should be adjusted such that when the lever is all the way forward, you should be able to slide a match book cover, or business card between the graphite button on the PTO clutch and the lever.
The guys here are great, and have lots of info. Another good place for Cub Cadet info, years of production, etc, is here: http://www.ihcubcadet.com/BobsPage/
and the cub cadet registry site: http://www.ihregistry.com/
If your tractor is a 1970 (or there about) the biggest mower available was a 48". Many had 42" mowers, and the lower hp models all had 38" mowers. All of the mowers are interchangable, and the smaller mowers were available on all tractors. The 48" mowers were typically limited to the higher 12 and 14 hp models.
Feel free to shoot me an e-mail and/or post more questions, and definitely read up and post some photos. We love pics!
