got to do some work on cadet #1 yesterday. We had a set of axles and put in new bushings in the housings to get some play out. Also have almost all of the paint stripped. been using paint stripper with good results. only a few more things to get then its ready for yeller.

You'll get there, just keep after it, and you will enjoy it when it's done. There is a lot more in those little tractors, and what they are capable of doing, than what most people give them credit for.

I might hire Scotty for my upcoming 782D project- this sort of thing keeps me smiling knowing another old Cub Cadet will roam the land again! Great work, keep it going and enjoy the hobby Scotty!

I understand how quickly the projects can pile up. Once a few others in town found out I enjoy working on small tractors after seeing the 682, in came the 782D and now a JD 300 also to be restored. I have quite a bit of the parts I need for the 782 on hand ready to go, I figure I can bang that tractor out in 3 or 4 months during the winter. I already have its engine pulled, took the exact same 45 minutes it takes to pull a gas Kohler out of an '82' series, though the diesel was a lot heavier and I borrowed a cherry picker to lift it to save my back and other essentials. The JD 300 is a bit of a mess that will be more involved, so it will hit the back burner for a while.

Funny part is I only have a half acre of yard and a dinky garage, so I'll probably end up selling some tractors once I get them completed, though fairly easy to say the labor is one of love as it is nearly impossible to sell one of these tractors in fully restored operational shape at any profit.

Don't feel bad. I mow less than 1/4 acre with an 1864 :)
