Quietlines and front AGs

Postby Leadfoot » Thu Jul 27, 2006 5:58 pm

I have been working my CC's pretty hard lately...tilling, hauling, and pushing dirt for landscaping projects.

Making a walkway from the driveway to the walk through gate of the backyard.

And leveling off an area for our 'get together' bonfires..

With the updated ISO mount rails, along with good ISO mount rubbers, and flex couplings, my 1250 and 1450 run as smooth as the KT17 in the 1712.

Also the front AG tires work great in the loose dirt!! A HUGE improvement over 'rib' or 'turf' fronts 8) 8)

Leadfoot, nice pics! Is your tiller mounted on the 1250? I couldn't read the numbers on the side panel. I have a 1250 coming soon and a tiller to put on it, so I'm looking forward to doing a little dirt work myself! How do you like the 1250? How about the ags...do you find that they help alot? Nice work, Findoggy

I have the tiller mounted on the 1450....because it has hydraulic lift :D 8)

My 1250 has 'armstrong' lift...lol.. Hydraulic lift was an option on a 1250..and it is possible to add hyd. lift nowadays by swapping parts from a 1450 or 1650 onto a 1250. A spring assist will help some with the muscle required to lift the tiller...but hydraulic lift is where it's at....LOL

My 1250 was the first Cub Cadet I ever bought...and it is a GREAT machine!! I have used it to mow 3 of the 5 acres we own..along with push snow/gravel, pull the cart loaded to the max with rocks, dirt, or whatever else needs hauled...and the 1250 hasn't missed a beat!

Ahhh, the front AGs...I love 'em! If you notice I have them 'forward' on the 1250, and 'reversed' on the 1450. I run them reversed on the 1450 because they will 'bite' better in loose dirt, stone, and snow. Regarding traction: They are vastly superior to rib or turf tread front tires IMHO.

I just picked up another set of 1" front wheels on e-bay, and as soon as I sandblast and paint them...the 1712 will get it's set of front AGs too  :D

Thanks!!

Looks like you were having some fun in the yard Leadfoot! I was looking to find a decent 1450 or 1650 for Cub Cadet resto #2, but last week a fairly decent looking but poor running 782D landed in my garage for $500.00, and I've been wanting to have a go at one of the little diesels. Where I figured one would be enough to own I'll have my hands full with another Cub for this coming winter :D I will likely pull and rebuild the Kubota diesel top to bottom.

Leadfoot,

I sure like that tiller. That sure beats digging out the grade by hand for the side walk.

I use my Cub Cadet’s pretty hard also. I bought them years ago so my kids could use them to cut the grass in fear of them getting hurt with the bigger tractors. Now my kids are teenagers and just will not let go of them.

This is a picture of one using a home made cultivator that fits perfect between the corn rolls.

This picture is one of my sons picking sweet corn and filling a trailer pulled by a Cadet. Notice how it fits perfect between the rows. It saves a lot of leg work going back and forth to the trucks to be filled. (Sweet corn is hand pick to be sold at the market)

Getting ready to cut the grass… I use trail mowers to cut five acres. The Cadets pull the mowers in third gear wide open throttle.

But, this is what happens when you work them to hard. Notice the old clutch pressure plate with the hole in the center. After three failures on one tractor I was fortunate to find a man by the name of Brain Miller who made me a special clutch pressure plate to take the pressure. Notice the extra metal on the new pressure plate in the center.

I tried the new ISO engine mounts but they didn’t hold up for me so, I had to go to solid engine mounts to stop engine mount failures on one of my “Quietlines”

Sweet 8) 8) A 782D is a cool tractor for sure!
Be sure to take lots of pictures, and share the 'innards' of that Kubota with us  :D

The tiller is a great implement! I have used it quite a bit...making flower beds for my wife, garden work, landscaping projects, etc.

I understand your wanting a smaller tractor for your kids to use. I originally had a '53 FCub with a Woods 42" belly mower...but my wife was 'scared' of it, and our son was only 9...so it was too big for him too.

I bought the 1250 with a 50" mower deck, and sold the Cub...and I'm glad I did. My son is now 14, and both he and my wife mow and use all of the Cub Cadets for any job we need to get done.

Thanks for sharing your pictures..they are very interesting!

Brian Miller is into pulling, so I bet that clutch driver is pretty beefy :)

I do have a question though....in your picture showing the left rear ISO mount, the 'rubber' is yellow.

Where did you get a yellow ISO mount?

The reason I am wondering is.........I have done the engine rail mod on both the 1450 and 1250. I used 'factory' Cub Cadet ISO mounts on the 1450, and used the 4 best original ISO mounts on the bottom, and 4 new 'rubber' pieces from a MOOG sway bar kit on the top on the 1250....all of the rubber pieces have been black, as have been the front snubbers.

Once I have done the rail mod, and new ISO mounts, and the snubbers, I have had no problems at all........

Leadfoot,

That was an old picture I took when I first had engine mount problems. The picture showed one of the original mounts I took out. Yes I tried the MOOG sway bar kit I think you suggested when I posted the problem a couple years ago. I did not do any rail modifications though. Since then, I’ve went with the solid mounts and I have no problems, but there is some vibration. I’ll live with a little vibration to save the clutch.

I only shown in the pictures a little what those little tractors do far as work for me. If you seen what they do, you would probably say “how do they hold up”

I have two Farmall Cub’s that I have restored and I don’t want to use them until, someday I’ll be fortunate enough to start going to tractor shows.

I'd like to know how that one guy got that MFWD to work on that model 100 that there was a picture posted of on here. That is... if that was actually a for real item it would be neat to know how he did that.

The same guy that built the 4WD 100, built a 100 Crawler...check it out here: http://www.ihcubcadet.com/crawler100.htm

Oh really? I've seen the crawler before, but i didn't know he did the 4WD 100 too. Damn, i'd jsut love to know how he ran the power from the rear end to the front. That takes some work... to say the least.

Hi Ritter: I have seen all of Dan Hoflers creations and they are awesome. I know he machined the entire transfer case for the 4 wheel drive. Go herehttp://ihregistry.com/cgi-bin/discus/discus.cgi?pg=prev&topic=2&page=58171and check out the other picture of the crawler that were posted on this page. I also posted some pictures of a 124 with a track kit on it. I got to drive that machine this last weekend. It's awesome. If you go to some previous and next pages there are more pictures of the track kit.
The Geezer from IHregistry.com which crashed and is now Cub Cadet Collectors.
