was wondering what type of fluid is supposed to be in the transmission.. had to replace the axel seals.when i drained the fluid is seemed to smell like 90wt and hytran..looked like motor oil. any help would be appreciated. thanks!

Hy-tran is what you put in it.

During early production it was 90 wt, but switched to Hy-tran when IH strated with the Hydro trans-axles.

The stuff that came out of my 100 was about the same.
Had a '57 Lo-boy, and loved it!! Will have another...
