12V Voltage Regulator Source

Postby Cub-Bud » Fri Sep 24, 2021 11:24 am

I'm looking for a good source for a good quality 12V voltage regulator for my 102 Cadet. I want one that will last; I'm tired of cheap imports. A gold-plated, American-made VR suits me just fine. :{_}: :{_}:

The IH paart number was 545130R91 or R92 or R93. If you do an eBay search for one of them along with "USA" you get a couple hits that claim USA made replacements. Beware that some sellers highlight their USA location without USA built parts. Maybe you have already been down that path.

I use the 12 volt, 16 amp Echlin, regulator for a Chevy. Auto parts store.

You will need to make a bracket for the regulator to mount to the CC's cast iron front end/weight.
I have an excuse. CRS.

fwiw - I have a 149 that hadn’t charged for years. A 149 has the battery and the regulator under the seat, far away from the heat and is dampened somewhat from vibration. Anyway, I stumbled across a YouTube video where a guy was saying that often all they need is to clean the contacts inside the regulator. I did that and it’s been working great ever since.

The squeaky wheel may get the grease but it's usually the first to be replaced!
