New points

Postby BigBill » Sun Jul 14, 2019 3:15 pm

You know we purchase new points and there clear coated. Then we sand them with a 600 grit paper to clean off the protective coating. Makes sense right..?

My 1200 had so many problems like a busted ignition wire, bad carb, broken wire on the points, it didn’t stand a chance in starting up. She’s alive and well now my son fixed it.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

No, it doesn't make sense. It is for the reason I have explained innumerable times, including the last time you said to do it in May.

There’s a reason the old timers used point files to clean the old points. I always carried a piece of 600 grit sand paper in my wallet Incase the points failed somewhere. My son is getting a crash course on kohler engines and cub cadets. Next it’s the 154’s.

Time to buy those atom electronic igns.
