CC 122 mower deck lube
Any suggestions on the frequency and number of pumps to grease the spindle bearings on this? I know some decks had a big space between two bearings that held about a half tube. I don't want to blow out any seals, but I'm not into replacing bearings either. Thanks. John

I give each bearing a shot or two before each mowing.
I have an excuse. CRS.

I have a 782 with a 44C deck. Usually give all three spindle zerts 2 or 3 pumps. Never had grease ooze out the bottom or top. "Your mileage may differ."
Getting some grease in there is better than no grease.

Re: CC 122 mower deck lube
Thanks for the quick replies. I'll have to take a closer look at the spindles. The only other mower deck I have any experience was on a early 70's vintage Simplicity. I'd give it 2-3 shots but after the 3rd set of bearings on the center shaft, the dealer's mechanic showed me that their were two bearings in a tube that held 1/2 a tube. That spindle needed several more pumps to keep it full. John

Re: CC 122 mower deck lube
Once the "space" between the bearings is full, it should only take a pump or three to push new grease through the bearings. It is probably best to do this routinely before mowing. If you apply grease to your spindles less often (I have skipped this process before), additional pumps may be required.
They key here is to get the housing full of grease first.

Re: CC 122 mower deck lube
I use the moly grease from tractor supply. It depends on which deck you have the 44c series decks have sealed bearing assemblies they take less grease. The other decks have more capacity for grease they have tapered bearings.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.
