Harvester World Magazine

Postby Jason (IL) » Sun Aug 04, 2013 8:03 pm

I found a few of these magazines in the old barn and was thinking why only these 3. Well I started looking through and found one article was on the old IH dealership that my grandpa once owned before he bought it.

This article is on W.C. Trecker, he started the dealership and sold out to my grandpa for $13,000 in 1946. Grandpa didn't have the whole chunk so he went to a bank and they laughed at him. So, in the process of getting the remaining $3,000 he and a few friends started Odell State Bank. He had his money source, a loan trust, and so now he was set. He had been called to war in 1942 and so before he had a sale of all his farm equipment and stock. He used that money to buy the store.

I found this article and pictures from 1931. I was shocked and thought it was really neat and interesting. I also found it on the Wisc. Historical Society's web and so I will share it as my copy is very brittle.

Just had to share, I love old farm pictures.
