F-12 engine parts questions

Postby dracer398 » Sun Nov 11, 2007 12:24 pm

Recently I had 2 F-12's follow me home! I was told that the pistons and sleeves from Farmall A's B's and C's would fit. Is this true? And also I was wondering about the rod and main bearings? Will they fit as well?

Might want to do some more checking. Later f-12, f-14 had a totally different engine than A's, B's, and C's. Early f-12's had waukesha engines in them. I would guess the piston and sleeves won't work, but just a guess. Check around in junk yards. Might be able to find a good set.

F-12. I was told that the pistons and sleeves from Farmall A's B's and C's would fit. Is this true? And also I was wondering about the rod and main bearings? Will they fit as well?

Valu-Bilt lists the same part numbers for rod and main bearings for the F12,F14, A,B,C, etc.

I don't know on the sleeves.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Red 56 turbo, F-12's and F-14's with the IH engine will take pistons and sleeves from A,B,C. I'm not 100% sure about the cams in them will interchange, but the cam gears will. Only thing you have to do to the cam gear is change the timing mark.

I also know that the 504 IH tractor cam is identical to the F-12/F-14 cam. In fact the 504 cam has 1/32" higher lift.

Brian, if you want pistons and sleeves go with the A,B,C stepped(high altitude) pistons. That will help for compression. In a factory F-12,F-14 engine with the piston at TDC there is about an inch of clearence. Yes, an inch between the piston and head.

Thanks Guys,
You all have been been a lot of help! I disassembled the head today. WOW What a mess! My son thinks I'm over my head! LOL!!! Does anyone know if the valves interchange with any other engine? It seems as though the intake and exhaust valves are the same.

Thanks,
Brian
