So, officially the restoration started in Oct' 2019. Because of the holidays, company, etc, serious work didn't start until the first of this year. My intentions for this one is to get it running first before I tear it down to parade rest. I rebuilt the fuel pump and sent the carburetor off to be rebuilt. Ordered a new hood, components for the steering rod, drained all the fluids, awaiting the new manifold. I've got the materials I need to reline the gas tank … that is on the to-do-list. I installed the oil pan, after cleaning a 1/2 " of gunk from the bottom, and of course the front gasket got knocked out of position and the oil drained out as fast as I was pouring it in.
I am finding out that not all gaskets are available for this machine so it looks like I will be using quite a lot of Permatex. Which brings me to the question of which color? Black, Blue, Red, Grey... did I miss any? I have used Black & Blue and had good results but that was with a gasket. So, which color will work best if NOT using a gasket... or does that matter?

Have you tried Olson's gaskets? They always advertise in Red Power, specializing in gaskets for older Farmalls. 360-871-1207 olsongaskets.com Of course, many of the gaskets, you can cut yourself. For applications using only RTV, I'm fond of Ultra Gray or High temp red for hot locations. For most applications, about any color will work.

Now that I've finally removed the four bolts that hold the front axel on to the bolster, but the two pieces refuse to part. Is there anything else that is keeping them from separating?

I took this picture of the axel to better explain the problem I'm having. The TC-9-B, Parts Catalog, doesn't indicate that there is anything that should keep the axel from coming free.
