M Engine mounts

I was wondering why some tractors had the solid cast iron motor mounts and some rubber over steel, Which is better.
My rubber ones are worn out , was possibly going to replace with the all cast.

On all of the Ms, and Hs also, I have ever seen the engines bolted in directly, with no mounts. The side rails provided a brace and implement mounts, but the engines bolted directly to the bell housing at the rear, and the bolster casting at the front. The only rubber moutns I have ever seen were under the radiator.

Ours were steel stamped with rubber overmolded

The rubber is pretty well deteriorated was wanting to buy the cast iron ones will this be a problem. Were the rubber ones better or just newer.

Case/IH Parts list shows two different mounts based on serial number. I have no clue what's on our "M", but I'll look next time I'm down at the shed. I assumed that it was bolted directly to the rails, but there does appear to be a bracket of some sorts.

Checked the mounts last evening...rubber, and not in very good shape I might add. Wonder if they're still available when the time comes? I had always assumed that the engine to frame rail connection was steel to steel.

The 44 M we just acquired has Cast steel blocks.
I Purchased a steel set from Ebay I am replacing the rubber ones.
What year is yours Dusti
Our 40 had the rubber / Steel
I know the 40's rubber shortages due to the cast steel shifter knob.
I wonder if the PO had them switched out would be interesting to see the change date.

Ours is a late '51 according to the serial number and casting codes...it does have the a cast shifter knob though. I guess the original owner just liked it that way...
