12 volt bulbs

Postby LiL' Red » Wed Oct 03, 2007 2:55 pm

Just converted my M to 12 volt and need to get the lights working. I have several 1143 bulbs, are they 6 or 12 volt? What would the correct bulb number be for 12 volt? Sockets are 2 pins straight across single contact. :?

1143 is 12 volt. 1133 is 6 volt.

1143 is 12-volt. I believe it is the same candle power as the 6-volt 1133 that your tractor had originally. There is probably a higher output bulb that will fit, but I don't have a number for one.

Just for future reference I found 2 replacements:
1156 @ 27 watts
1195 @ 37 watts
The 1195 may be tough on the original light switch, if used you may want a separate switch.

I believe 1156 (a common backup light) is the same candlepower as the original 6-volt bulb. The brighter bulb, at 37 watts, probably pulls no more amps than the original.
