Added another to the Herd this weekend.

Postby jonny2guns4u » Tue Nov 10, 2015 10:44 am

I've been wanting a BN for years. So I went to an auction this weekend to look at two they had. They were both in their "working clothes" but fairly strait. I told Jody (my girlfriend) I was going to buy the one if the price was right. So when it came time, I bid, and did get the one I wanted. And at what I thought was a good price. They moved on to the next one and all of a sudden she was bidding! Next thing I know we need to figure out how to get two BN's home. She already has her dad's BN on her farm so she loves them too but I was surprised when her hand went up. Here is a pic of what I call "our dirty girls" and a few pics of mine.

Looks like you got the heavy wheel option.

Yes, both these tractors have thick, heavy cast wheels unlike my Cub which has a similar looking wheel that is stamped I'm guessing.

The standard wheels on the B and BN were stamped, similar to the Cub wheels. The heavy wheels were an option that added about the same weight as a pair of bolt-on wheel weights.

Is that heavy wheel a different cast wheel than the one used on the A thru 140 right side to compensate for the offset instability?

The same wheel. The axle story may be a little more complicated.

Unlikely it started out that way.

I agree Jim. Don't know why or when, but I like it.

That is one crazy story right there!
Man those tractors look real nice when sitting on the floor of a big shop.

Congrats on the pair, Jonny! Glad you were able to get the one you wanted (and your girlfriend too). :coffee:
